Will tivo hd box work with my comcast cable on demand and pay perview?

Question

i have looked everywhere. the tivo site is unspecific and comcast was unresponsive. ive googled it and couldnt find a definitie answer

NO - you cannot use On Demand or PPV if you're using a CableCard with your TiVo HD!!!!!  You can only keep their functionality if you continue to pay for an HD Cable Box from Comcast - which would increase how much you'll pay each month (since you'll be paying for your TiVo monthly service).

You can get any movies available through On Demand via Amazon Unbox on your TiVo.  You'd only be losing out on the Pay Per View events.  There are the random items through OnDemand - like some of the local shows and stuff like that - but it's up to you to decide if those are worth the $10 or so you'll have to pay to keep that box each month in addition to your TiVo HD.  I'd just stick with the TiVo HD box - I'm about to purchase mine online!

I work for comcast and yes it will work. We prefer  you use our DVR(digital video recorder) but yes Tivo will work with our cable boxes.

i believe the tivo needs a cable card to work which doesn not support two way communication, so therefore on demand will not work.

you need a comcast cable box to get ondemand service, and its ability to get ondemand depends on where in your hometheater chain its hooked to.

in order to get ondemand service, the cable box must be the first thing the cable comes into out of the wall, other wise things like vcr's and tivos will block the signal out of the box which is what it uses to order ondemand and ppv items

the tivo does not support 2 way services, VOD or ppv with most companies and i doubt it will work even with a multistream cable card,

Hi Clay,

TiVo will work for regular cable. You will need to have Comcast install 2 cablecards in your TiVo. Then you can access channels (two at once) without the set top box.

You will not be able to use Comcast on demand or pay per view. Tivo is not capable of sending a signal to Comcast for it. You can be recording two standard channels on TiVo while you watch a pay per view that you order through your Comcast box.
