  1. It's become a really metropolitan city and is very popular with tourists. It's the middle of winter here now and you wouldn't think it would be a very good time for tourism, but I work in Belfast and constantly see busloads of tourists, especially in Titanic Quarter, where the Titanic was built, and also on the Falls Road, etc.

The tours are well worth it - I recommend the open top bus tour, and the West Belfast taxi tour. (See link)

There are also lots of great restaurants and clubs (This is all covered in the open top bus tour which shows you where the best places are)

It's also very well connected with Dublin where they run buses up and down on an hourly basis, and you can also visit Scotland for the day, with ferries running from Larne (which is about 25 miles north of Belfast) which does crossings to Cairnryan in Scotland in just an hour.

  2. Hi, I live in Belfast and really like it.  It's a small city, so everything is easily accessible.  The city centre is similar to most cities in the UK- same kinds of shops, cafes etc.  It's a good place to base yourself if you wanted to travel around N. Ireland.  Since the end of "the troubles", as most people call them, there's a much better feel to the city.  Much more cosmopolitan, which is great.  To give you an idea of the kinds of things you can see and do check out-http://www.gotobelfast.com

  3. Belfast is a lovely little city that is full of great people.  Don't let the bad history put you off it, the people are some of the friendliest in Europe.

  4. Belfast is in the north of Ireland, It has pound not euro (so..technically it is in the UK) It's very cheap and the weather is bad.

The wars and everything that went on are finally beginning to calm down now.

I love their accents but that is probably because I am from Donegal!!!!

  5. belfast is part of northern ireland, which technically isnt under irish control.

it has a seperate currency (although most shopping centres will accept both the pound and the euro).

It is riddled with history as it was home to serious troubles between nationalists and unionists, however it is highly safe now and well worth the visit (although there are still some areas which are still heavily pro union, or against), but any good tour guide ill advise  you on areas not to enter, and thy are not areas u wud find urself wandering around anyway as they are highly visibly dangerous.

all in all though the city is a great destination and very safe
