Will tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 only after 100 percent fitness, says Tim Southee – Cricket News Update
The young New Zealand pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TG-Southee-c2659, has elucidated that he will join Black Caps for their tour to Zimbabwe only after regaining his hundred percent fitness.
Southee has been suffering from a knee-injury which earlier ruled him out of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, where he was due to play for the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Starting from October 15, 2011, New Zealand’s upcoming tour to Zimbabwe includes a couple of T20 Internationals, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a one-off Test.
Although Southee is in the Test squad, he discarded the possibility of taking any risk and said that he will not participate in the contest until his knee is completely healed from the cartilage damage.
“It’s hard to tell at the moment, as I haven’t tested it out. There’s no pain, so fingers crossed.  If I’m 100 per cent I’ll go to Zimbabwe, but there’s no point in rushing it,” said Southee while talking a sports website.
The tour to Zimbabwe is extremely crucial for the Kiwis, as it will be their first International outing after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 by the end of this year.
Southee is also looking forward to clash against the Kangaroos, sharing that he has still enough time to prepare himself for the big party against the Aussies.
“So it’s not all bad I guess – there’s still enough time to get ready for Australia. The main goal is to play against Australia,” added the 22-year-old fast bowler who emerged as the third highest wicket-taker in the recent mega event – 18 scalps in eight
matches.
Talking about his ongoing fitness issues, the Northland-born seamer conceded that he remained lucky in avoiding injuries so far in his career.
“I’ve had no problems, with any part of my body, for quite some time now,” stated the right-arm paceman who recently won the award for ‘ICC Twenty20 Performance of the Year’ in lieu of his fabulous spell of 5/18 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 last year.
