  1. ethanol burns hotter, will help clean out your system, but yes it does decrease fuel milage slightly, I doubt if you could really tell unless you are using E-85

  2. Yes, while ethanol enhanced fuels will help your engine run cleaner and produce less harmfull emmisions, it does decrease your fuel economy (so you have to burn more fuel).

  3. ethonal has less BTU's in it.  (British Thermal Units).  So therefor it will take more of it to get the same energy as gasoline.  Diesel contains more BTU's than gasoline, and that is one reason diesels get better mileage than gas engines.

The difference shouldn't be that bad for the 10% ethonal fuel, but you may notice a little less MPG's.

  4. It will, but very slightly.  Ethanol has less power per litre than gasoline.  Having an air filter thats 10% dirty will have the same effect.

  5. I drive a '97 GMC Sonoma,  using 10 % Eth cuts milage by 1MPG.  Thats 24 MPG down to 23.  I've tested this numerous times & it proves out consistantly.

  6. fordman is correct, you will see about a 1-3% drop in fuel mileage using 10% ethanol.
