  1. If it's a flat standard TV there is slight importance, in it's the bubble screen kind, no!

Just get an HD LCD or a DLP or a HD plasma!

  2. Progressive scan does not work on a standard def television.

You would be better off with an SVideo connection.

The 3 standard def connection types are:

    Composite - baseline

SVideo - 20% improvement over Composite

Component - 25% improvement over Composite

So SVide is your best bang-for-the-buck.

I tend to buy HD rated component cables from BlueJeans. They also sell Svideo cables, but SVideo has been around so long the AR Pro series for $18 works well

  3. standard CRT Tv are interlaced...   no way to change that..  a LCD tv would be progressive.

Yes it might help to buy some component cable, it depend of the quality of the TV, Colors might be better.

You don't have to spend that much , just don't buy the very cheapest...  buy the middle priced cable.  Your CRT tv will never give you more than  480i video anyway.
