Question:

Will using a large LCD computer with a TV tuner effect quality?

I am considering buying a 22" LCD monitor (see bottom) and a TV tuner (see bottom) to use as a makeshift HDTV. But I will be using it mostly for basic cable television (no HD) and my Xbox 360 (the 360 is not the problem since that does HD). So my question is: will using a screen with a 1680x1050 pixel resolution have any effect on the quality of the basic cable since it is being stretched over such a large area? Or will the tuner somehow fix it?

Tuner (I will buy a similar one): http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3322945&CatId=1427

  1. Both have the same max resolution. And the tuner has an artificial intelligence feature of identifying the source signal and it will display the most suitable resolution your monitor can support. And besides, you can manually adjust the monitor when watching TV or just make a profile for it for easy switching. Resolution matching would not be a problem with those monitor and tuner you are planning to buy. Those ripped Dvds are only encoded in 700x500 resolution yet they display fine in those widescreen LCD monitors.
