Will waiters and waitresses check I.D. at a BYOB restaurant?

I was just wondering if the waiters will check an I.D. at a BYOB restaurant or just assume that whomever is bringing alcohol is 21 or older. I'm 18, but I know of friends my age who have done it and not get in trouble or get carded. Anyone know for sure?

  1. I have never heard of a place like this, but I want to go! Where do you live? I would assume they would because you are drinking there though.

  2. The BYOB places I've been don't card, but they're usually pretty shady operations where I'm from (I'm living in the Bronx). I think that BYOBs are in some shady, probably illegal gray area of the law, because they aren't providing the alcohol (and therefore don't need a liquor license) but they're letting you drink it at their place.  I'm pretty sure they won't card you for something you bring in, but be prepared to pull the "oh, must've left my ID in the car" and leave if need be.

    Good luck!

  3. If you want to drink to please people- you are living a lie.

If you are dirnking to calm down, try a sedative instead.

If you are drinking because you're a drunk, just stay home so innocent people don't get creamed on the highways.

  4. where do you live? i wish i could bring my own beer to a restaurant!

  5. It is every states law to insure that proper proof of age be provided from anyone consuming alcoholic beverages.

The servers may be fined and jailed...the management may also be subject to prosecution.

So yes, count on being carded.

I dont agree with a 21 drinking age ..but it is the law.

So why would you send your nice server to jail because you had to go out? Dont even try it.
