Will walkie talkies from USA work in mexico?

I am traveling with some family members to cancun,mexico. We want to be able to stay in touch without using our cells. Does any one know if this will work or any better ideas?

Walkie talkies will work OK if you're all in one hotel or shopping mall and not too many rooms or stores apart. Anything more than that and they won't work. We rented cell phones from Mexitel Cellular that only cost 50 cents per call and they worked really well to call each other - and to call the US for $1 per call.

You can use the walkie talkies if you are within the zone they have a good signal. It's the same than inthe us

Yes Walkie Talkies will work just fine, anywhere.  The airways are the same.

it depends on how far away u r. but probably not. they all say they will but they usually don't.
