Question:

Will water spots on my stainless steel silverware cause permanent damage?

My set of flatware (Oneida brand) gets water 'stains' if not hand dried..will this cause permanent damage over time? So far, the stains come out the next time I wash them..I've had the set about 2 weeks.

Who has time to hand dry every time?! :)

Thanks!

  1. Adding a little vinegar to the rinse water stops the water spots. You can add the vinegar to the rinse cycle of the dishwasher or the rinse water if doing by hand. It won't cause any permanent damage so don't worry.

  2. No, it's fine. BTW, are you using a dishwasher? If so, use Jet Dry. If just handwashing, stand the silverware up in a caddy to dry. This should take care of the problem.
