Will watering dead grass make it green again or do I have to fertilize it first?

this is the same thing that happened to my grass, I watered it 2 times a day and it started getting it color back.

I do not think watering it will help.   You can try taking slips of sod with grass from another part of the grass in the yard, and digging a place for it, slip it in, and then put soil in the spot you took the sod from.   The healthy grass will root in the soil especially if you crumble it into that spot.   The sick spot will grow the sod and its roots will spread out.  Water it well, but let it dry in between.

grass is an obnoxious weed so yes it will grow back if you water it i do this to my lawn and i waterd mine a week ago because it had died because i was on holiday and it is finally getting the colour back and i am hoping in a week or so it will be back to normal

Water should do the trick.  Just make sure you either water it in the early morning or the evening after the sun has gone down.  You never want to water it when the sun is out full force.  hope this helps.

What killed it?

Is it just dormant because of drought?  Then it will come back.

Did you kill it with Round-up? Then it won't.

The root systems are likely still at least partly alive.  Water the grass only.  Do not fertilize a stressed plant.  Water it well if lack of water caused the grass to die to begin with.  There may be something else going on with your lawn.

If it is really dead, watering or fertilizing won't help.  If it is dormant, watering should make it green assuming it turned brown due to lack of water.

Depending on where you live, the top grass is probably just dormant and will green up with watering and no need right now for the fertilizer.

If the area is drought one please water it twice regularly.

Dont use any form of fertilizers since you have shortage of water.

Any form of fertilizers should be applied with proper irrigation facility.

once its dead its dead unless it had a chance to seed or go to seed you have dead grass withoout water.

before it dies.

Dead is dead and aont no amount of water once its dead going to bring back dead.

also feeding a thirsty lawn will kill it for sure. so dead is dead again. dont let it die

water it religiously daily and as if you would like to be thirsty

for a whole hot day.

dead once dead it needs new lawn to be seeded into life and watered so it doesnt die. cheers
