Question:

Will we ever find original and intact scrolls from the Library of Alexandria?

Its something i've been meanign to study but i've never had the time, from what i'm led to beleive, no scrolls have been found (original scrolls). Where would they most likely be if they havent been found? If not will they ever be found?

  1. I hope that some are found. I think that as technology increases, we might be able to trace them in the future.

They will probably never be found, unfortunately.  Not only was the building demolished, but it was set fire several times during several wars.  Also, Alexandria was very protective of the library, and guarded the knowledge very closely, so not many, if any, copies were made.  There have been a few copies of scrolls found, I believe, but nothing on the scale of the originals.  We're just beginning to find some inventions of the time, like steam engines that were used in temples to impress worshippers (they never got around to using them for anything else).  If the scrolls had survived, maybe Columbus would have been sailing for the moon!
