Yes, it is the most efficient type of light in the world.

Current OLED's are manufactured for cell phones or other small devices.  Sony and Motorola are working on OLED's that can be applied like wall paper to light rooms.

"ever" could be a long time, and since at least demonstration units have already been made: http://www.oled-display.net/oled-lightin... I'd guess the answer is a qualified yes. Though there can be a big difference between demonstration units and mass production.
