Will we ever see a player kick 100 goals in a season again?

With the modern game evolving as it has the 100 goal barrier is becoming increasingly tough to break, the days of stay at home full forwards like Lockett, Modra Sumich are well gone, even Lloyd is moving up the ground these days!!

  1. im afraid not :(

  2. With teams now perferring to have two or even three targets up forward, plus small in-and-under ball getters, I would have to say that its unlikely.

The days of Lockett and Dunstall, are over Im afraid.

These days most teams share the resposonibility around.

I'd be interested to know -

What was the highest tally last season?

I think it was well below 100, from memory, but could be wrong

    Smashitup do you know??

  3. What do you mean......again?

A young bloke in a local competition racked up his 100 goals weeks ago. Others have done it across the country as well - & will continue to do so for years to come.

Remember this is Australian Rules football here in this section - not just AFL, y'know, pal!

  4. heard of lance franklin?

  5. I think we will, and Buddy or Fevola are the current players who are a chance to do it (If Buddy becomes more accurate!). Well, I certainly hope we see it happen again!

  6. Most certainly !   Buddy " will " eventually do it this season, provided he can stay injury free, and plays out the season .  Being so inaccurate, his  kicking in '08 has already cost him the 100 goal title, up to round 17.

  7. yeah nah i doubt we'll see it much... buddy has a shot this year cos they will make finals... But no one will ever break it in home and away season... to many plays now, its like american football. so many changes, if you only had one game plan of kick to the forward then ur opposition would shut him down quickly and then themsleves kick goals. One man teams are long gone from aussie rules, due to the fact that coaches have gotten smarter. Look at the past premiers and there game plans, no one could match them. Brisbane was 4 top midfielders and 2 power forwards along with 2 power backs.. they just gelled, the eagles were defence crazy, there defensive rebound was magnificant. teams found that hard tro cover. sydney was one on one flood. thats hard also... and geelong run thru the middle with 5-6 great midfielers and just as good defensive rebound as eagles did of 05-06... Its all team now, rather than bomb it forward and pray ur forward would mark it...

  8. It could be a race for the Coleman in round 22 with Carlton playing Hawthorn.

Fev averages 4.3 goals a game if he continues that average he'd have another 25 goals for the year, falling just short of the hundred on 94

Franklin averages 4.5 goals a game, he could have another 23 goals by season end - that would take him to exactly 100.

Both could possibly make the 100 this year.

If we don't see it this year, we will see it in the near future.

Franklin could get well over 100 including Final games.

  9. We could see another two this year. buddy/fev.

(Zero- mate   Big Brownie kicked 77 to win it last year, just ahead of buddy,  We could see two 100 goal players this year, Franklin has 77. 52 or some thing like that, he could of had it already, 129 shots.)

Buddy only has 23 goals to get,  ave around 4.85 per game, with 6 left of the home and away season, gives him another 28,    105 at the end of round 22.

    see what happens.

  10. yes and it will be soon. most likly to be buddy or fev but buddy wont get anywere when he kicks more points than goals or when he is going for goal and gets it out on the full!

  11. If Franklin gets past 100 goals, I'd be ashamed. He kicks so much behinds his 2008 season would look like this.

    GOALS:100

    BEHINDS: 1000

  12. If Franklin wasn't such a shonky sort in front of goal (4.7...2.7 etc this year and god knows how many out on the full) he would have raped the rest and screamed past 100 by now. I dont see him getting to a 100, I'd say its going to be high 80's

But those super goal kickers of yore (forget about Dunstall did ya?) are long gone.

  13. We could/should see it twice this year. Franklin is just 30 goals shy of the mark, and Fev is only 4 goals behind him.

Both are a chance of reaching the mark when their two clubs clash in round 22 - that would be great to see.

But even if Franklin finished the season on 90 odd goals, he'll have at least 2 finals to pass the ton.

  14. yes this year buddy franklin will
