Me and my boyfriend just started playing tennis a month ago, we are getting a little better, but I am curious if we will get good at it if we continue to play everyday? OR are we going to need some type of formal training to get much better?

  1. you do need lessons, either from a coach or self-taught - meaning reading a lot of tennis tips on the books and magazines. if you just keep hitting without knowing if you are doing the right thing or not, two thing could happen: 1. you develop a bad form and become your habit, your improvement will be very limited.  It is much easier to start up with all the right forms than try to "correct" the bad form later on.

    2. you could get hurt - the tennis elbow usually caused by hitting late (bad form). once you develop the tennis elbow, it is very hard to get rid of.

Or, you could be that one in a million genius! then you don't need a formal training!  Which is very rare... :)

i played tennis all my life, i took a few lessons (group lessons) when started, to get my fundamental right, after that, i self-taught by reading a lot of books and watch the pro tennis matches.

Oh yes, practice does help! after you have all the right forms.

Good luck!  tennis is a great sports! enjoy!

  2. You do need some training from someone whom know what they're doing, but without pratice a lot you won't get far neither. You could try getting tips online. You need to pratice but, everyday is a little over board. If you get an injury you should stop play until it full recovers or else it might become severe.

  3. Taking professional guidance would be very helpful for your game. Try getting a trainer or some online tips! Good luck!
