  1. It would be great, but I'm not sure we will see it within our lifetime.

However, most people could have never imagined a black president, but it is about to happen.

  2. You must have missed Joe Biden's speech. Who is more John Q. than Joe B.?

  3. Lots of good John Q. Publics enter politics, and for the right reasons. The question is whether they can find the political and financial support to run a successful campaign, and if they do run, will they remain sufficiently distant from undue influence of special interests, because the pressure will certainly be on.

It will be very difficult, but I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised one day.

  4. That day will not come until one we demand term limits , two we demand that government serve us and not special interests, three when we finally have the rise of a viable third party that represents all Americans and poses a major threat to politics as usual in Washington and across the nation.

  5. No, since arguments would be made that he lacks the same Washingtonian experince.

  6. Never. John Q Public is way too dumb to handle the job. Elites will always be in charge.

Update; average IQ of presidents is estimated in the 120+ range (college educated, wealthy, knowledgeable). In spite of what you've heard even GW Bush has high intelligence. If you look at the makeup of congress it is the same.  At the same time if they're too bright, they won't make a good president either (eg Jimmy Carter - 174). So there is a range of intelligence that makes a good leader.

The average IQ of the american public is 98. Two points LOWER than the rest of the world. So no. Billy Bob driving the pickup or some Guido from Brooklyn simply doesn't have the intelligence to be president. Neither does Einstein.
