Question:

Will we miss Dragonflyy?

I received an email from a family member of our own Dragonflyy. They were going through some of her emails and found one from me. I was notified that a drunk driver crossed the highway and hit her head-on. She died instantly. I will miss her and her poetry a lot. This happened about 2 months ago, and I had heard nothing about it before, so I am posting it here, and here is a little poetic eulogy to her memory. Is it ok, or should I do it again.

Dragonflyy Missed

Her poems here I'll surely miss,

Her comments and her smiles.

A driver drunk on demon rum,

Has sent her many miles.

To be cut down in prime of life,

By one who frequents bars.

When at the dome I soon arrive,

I hope she'll be on Mars.

A dragonfly has filmy wings,

Now this one also flies.

Her wings upon the air of time,

A pleasure to our eyes.

Look down to Earth and see us here,

You'll be forever missed.

For all here think a lot of you,

You know you'll not be dissed.

Sleep well until we meet again,

Then show me what you've wrote.

And arm in arm upon the clouds,

We'll read and then emote.

Goodbye Dragonflyy,

Dondi

  1. One has to allow feeling's to come out, and Poetry does just that.  Your poem has beauity, wonderment of your relationship with her, someone can alway's relate to a "dragonfly."  Remember we all are something else inside then outside, we all will be in the heavenly skies, to fly together, one does not allow, he is lost forever.

  2. I never read any poetry by this lady,  but I am sorry for your loss, and the loss to all the virtual community of very real poets.

  3. I lost two nieces in a head-on collision with a drunken driver who crossed the median. My daughter was devastated. She said, "But Mom, we were supposed to grow up together."

The video is beautiful. I hope it is true that we will all finally meet on a Mars of our own making.

  4. A dragonfly's days are numbered

    as well are a damselfly's,

and so as she's now in slumber

    I truly sympathize.

I did not know Dragonfly but I was drawn to her posts by the nature of her name. And I will miss her just the same.

Tis a well done eulogy you have delivered

I think she would be proud.

  5. Confession, I did not know her well,

and yet I find that tears still swell,

for I lost one in the same fashion,

    lover, friend, and life-long passion.

My song will ring beyond the stars,

for those who we will meet on Mars,

and they will tell of sights they've seen,

earth and heaven and in between.

  6. I did not know Dragon flyy, but sure she is a wonderful person, especially since she is a poet! To me, poets possess a certain finesse, a sensitivity of life and an way with expression of words as an art!  So Cheers to your friend and fellow poet! My regards, again, Cheers!

  8. "This DragonFlyy has angels wings

    Four with two to spare

On Gods right side she drops the two

    for help in flying there

She wishes health upon us all

but knows the hour will come

When a knockings heard at the Pearly Gates

and together we'll live as one..."

  15. Dondi, it's a beautiful eulogy and I don't anything that needs to be changed.  I did not know Dragonfly, but I do know that even the impact of losing someone you've barely met can be great.  I'm sure she is happy that you honored her and she smiling on you from her dome on Mars.

When will people understand the driving while intoxicated results in the death of innocents?  It's one thing to risk your own life, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to risk the life of another.  It's mind blowing.

  16. Dragonflyy I did not know

    What happened to you so

A driver in sin so much

I wish that he had know

He hurt just not only her

    But the rest of us

    I pray for her now

    Hope this helps

    Stop drunk drivers

    From killing us now
