  1. This is a concern, not only because land is being used up but because traditional burial sites aren't particularly environmentally friendly.

Cremation certainly makes sense.  It takes up no space, is environmentally friendly and it costs less.  A lot more people in the U.S. are opting for cremation than ever before.

Another option is green burial.  It takes up less space than traditional burial because it uses only the materials needed to help the body return to the earth.  No metal caskets, no concrete vaults, no embalming fluids.  It's also less expensive than traditional burial.

  2. in new orleans, there is a limited number of spaces where above or below ground graves can be.they actually do a time share kind of thing. so, i think the question isnt could we run out of space. i think it might b have we already run out of space? hmmmmm

  3. Oh yea. the population is increasing so that means not many cemeteries can be added...i guess maybe a law will be enacted that everyone must to cemented and burials will become less common. i dont remember what movie it was but this guy finds out that some food company is actually composed from dead bodies. it was supposed to be set in the future....it like something "green is people!" and he's carried off.

  4. I've wondered about that.

  5. When I first came to America 10 years ago I was that people actually lived in skyscrapers, stacked on top of each other...you see where I'm going? The skyscrapers for the dead won't be quite as high.....

  6. Many places in the world have already gone to using the same graves for multiple bodies.

The biggest problem is that we wish to have our loved ones buried close to us, whereas there is a lot of non productive areas in the world if we would just utilize them.

Think about have many could be buried in the deserts of the world.

  7. In Australia you can be buried in a bush grave. That's what I'm doing. You are only put in the ground in a cotton shroud and biodegradable coffin (recycled cardboard). You can buy them for as little as $50 and paint or decorate them, write things on them. So long as it is biodegradable.

You cannot place a marker in the bush but your family will be given GPS co-ordinates for the grave site so that they may always find it again. You may plant a tree native to the site also if you wish on the site so that when your family visit they can sit under your tree and have a picnic with you again!

I think it is such a lovely idea. To be in the Australian bush for eternity where I am always happiest. To know that I have not put any more poisons into the earth. That I am nurturing a bushland paradise so that even after I am gone I am still useful!

That is my idea of heaven!

  8. the movie was soelent green or some thing like that  and they do that in the states for pet food with all the animals from shelters ectra mash em up and  and send them back out as cat bisciuts and such, might be a bit hard for people thou then again all the grain feed vegitarin animals eat the same meat enhanced stock feeds. shame we cant ask adolf what his lot did with the 30 to 40 mill he supposedly buried with out trace when only a couple of hundred thou have been found germanys not that a a place?

  9. they will just make more cemeteries plus some people choose to be cremated

  10. good question. I've always wondered what would happen if funeral homes ran out of land. I would guess cremation would be the best option.

  11. In some places in the world, it is mandatory to be cremated if you want to be buried in a cemetary, due to space issues. After so many years, they actually removed the older graves.
