  1. It is quite an interesting concept...answerable by yes and no.

Yes - at least in theory - because the way society is structured at present is a product of history. A "passing along the line" of religion, culture, attitude, language, sociology.

    However...ultimately, I suspect no.

Initially - this golden society would perhaps flurish...but I tend to suspect that as humans, it would be difficult to truly unify everyone. At the risk of being offensive, human imagination defined religion - religion having been created to "explain" the unexplainable. Or - to be cynical - fobb off questions and shut people up.

So - if religion is a product of imagination - who is to say that different concepts would not arise again...?

My other thought would be power. The ultimate failing of Marxist communism was that in theory, everyone is equal - but the human race is not of the psychology to exist in perfect equality - we are built to lead or be led. How else can we explain the structure of society - government, leadership, rank, seniority.

So - a perhaps golden society would initially function on equality (in other words...again, risking offense, but would be theoretically Marxist) - however, given time, someone would desire to lead - and would rise to power. It might be so simple as physical strength or above average intelligence (and manipulative skill) that allows this person the opportunity to rise - but I suspect s/he would.

This might work well in the beginning, one leader, one society. But inevitably, population will grow...and as it does, more will desire to lead. Those of potential will resent being controlled or led - and rise to challenge. Unless this challenge happens to remain as an overthrow of leader after leader - it's most likely, at least in my mind, that this challenge would serve to instead promote or create a "opposition". A new society - built on the whims of the new leader.

So - just like new countries...these two would develop as so.

I think that so long as humans have the capacity for free, independent thought that societies will develop, branch out, oppose and ultimately, generate differences.

So - a new, post apocalyptic society would be more or less a "wiping" clean of the current slate, but only for so long as it takes for "new" culture and society to develop...

I think the way we are is the product of our psychology - and our evolution as intelligent beings - and would only be repeated.

  3. Yes.

  4. Your guess on this is as good as anyone else's.

I think that our differences will exist as long as humans exist.    We think differently and have different opinions on just about everything.

If we all thought the same, acted the same, believed the same human progress would grind to a halt.    Embrace the differences (well, some of them lol) and accept others the way they are.

If we were all the same, it would be incredibly boring.

  5. I'm not sure that I could call any society that lacked culture or religion a "golden" one. They are the very things which make life vibrant and exciting.
