  1. SmithB does not know what he is talking about. The WEC is like the NFL for smaller fighters. Varner and Stann? Stann would get destroyed by UFC 205 pounders. The WEC is weaker in the higher weight classes. What about Urijah Faber? He is the face of the WEC.

  2. Most of the UFC guys are in there late twenties or thirties and have had experience in the Olympics or 30+ MMA no-holds barred type fights.  The WEC guys are good, but they're typically 18-25 years old with maybe 5-10 fights.

It would be like an NFL team playing an NCAA team.

  3. WEC and UFC will never unite. The UFC owns both of them and the money that can be made from  both is huge. The only reason why they combined the UFC with the Pride organization was to get the best fights possible, but if you noticed the WEC has a lot of the fighters that are up and coming or did not make it in the UFC.

I think that the other thing about WEC that sets it apart is that it has a bantamweight (145 lbs) division and no heavyweight division. This makes it a good draw as was seen by the Faber / Pulver fight last Sunday.

  4. Most likely no.  WEC's best fighters are in the 145lb (featherweight) and 135lb (bantamweight) divisions.  The UFC does not have those weight classes.  The classes that exist in both orgs (205, 185, 170, 155) are not even with regard to talent.  Only WEC's Paulo Filho is in the same league as the UFC middleweights and he is a friend of Anderson Silva's, so they would be unlikely to fight anyway.
