Question:

Will women ever admit that they are not better at driving?

Accident rates are higher for men? Yes, but they drive more and actually the mileage to accident ratio is worse for women. I'm not saying that all women are bad drivers, but how many times have you heard (or said if you are women) 'i'm not driving on the motorway' or 'i can't park in there'.

Please no abuse. This is supposed to be tongue in cheek!

  1. Women are bad at some things when it comes to driving but when men drive they drive really fast and have car accidents and before you know it they are dead!! And people say women are more sensible then men!!

  2. woman are too head stron well be arguing about this for years but women will never give up

  3. My mom has been a driver for 25 years and never once had a crash, she drives every day and she's never so much as had a scratch. My dad on the other hand has crashed two cars in 3 years. I'm learning to drive and am actually a better driver than my partner simply because i don't take as many risks.

  4. How very rude!! lol! I'm a woman and i can honestly say i've never said i can't park there! as for the "I'm not driving on the motorway." i can also say i've never said that either but have also never driven on a motorway despite having been driving for over ten years!! It's just i've never needed to go on one so haven't.

I do however often make mistakes when driving but i imagine no more than your average male driver! x

  5. lol! Im a woman, i drive well but my parking is RUBBISH!!!! I admit it! I drive a small car (ford ka) and still cannot park it! Think its something i have to get used to!

  6. nope

  7. No,women will never admit we're not better at driving.

  8. Jings, I'm a wee bitty biased. I understand that the veiw on women drivers is pretty low but I have held my license since I was twenty one(now forty five) and I have only managed to accumulate a measly three penalty points for doing 38mph at a newly fitted speed camera at 2.30 am, whilst returning from dropping off my parents at the airport. In the last year, four of my fellow colleagues, all male, have had their licences revoked for drink driving and two of my male friends have been in trouble for exceeding the speed limit on the motorway!!! MMM, I suppose it depends on how many dopey encounters you have had with female drivers!!!!

  9. Sadly I fear not.  NEVER assume a woman will give way if you value your life.

Unfortuntely this does not seem to be limited to the matter of driving..

  10. Ok, I am a worse driver than almost any man. I admit it freely. But then Ive never even had a lesson.

Now will you admit that Im better at almost everything else than you are :)

  11. Obviously you have driven with me. I can drive just as good if not better than a lot of men out there....Never had an accident and I'm on the highway everyday..Sometimes I have to chase these men off the road just because they can't keep up..lol..oh and it's not wreckless either. I don't play with my life or other people's.

  12. Nope.

1] men have higher accident rates - and I probably drive more than all the men in my family!

So does my mom, sister 1, sister 2, etc.

2] men also cause more fatal accidents

  13. ONLY 32% OF ACCIDENTS ARE CAUSED BY WOMEN! BUT THEN AGAIN OF COURSE, ONLY 18% OF THE DRIVERS ON THE ROAD ARE WOMEN. WHO AND ONLY WHO ARE BETTER AT DRIVING MEN UP THE WALL????  TAKE CARE.... GOURANGA GOURANGA GOURANGA

  14. I drive around 40000 miles a year as part of my job, and I reckon I've seen it all-and women are undoubtedly worse drivers. There are certain things that I see a car doing, and I just KNOW it's a woman (usually at low speeds, trying some simple parking manoeuvre that Stevie Wonder could do in no time), and also Middle Lane Hog is almost always female. If they moved their seats more than six inches away from the steering wheel they'd find their cars a lot easier to control. My ma is the WORST driver in the entire world, and refuses to go on motorways, dual carriageways and roundabouts-I'm not kidding. BUT....

If I get some t*t driving a foot from my back bumper at 70mph, I KNOW it's a bloke. Just like if I get overtaken on a blind bend I know that's a bloke too. And I think that's the key-men generally love driving & cars, whereas for most women a car is just a way of getting from A to B. So while they may not be techincally proficient drivers, they don't drive like lunatics.

I skydive regularly, so I get to meet a lot of pilots who are still pretty newly licensed and trying to get their flying hours up. Women make better pilots than men for exactly the same reason as I just metioned; They aren't gung ho, they don't have the male issue of thinking with their balls (almost all plane crashes involving pilot error concern a male pilot with a type A personality), and there still has been no commercial airliner involved in a fatal crash where the captain or first officer was female. So it's not all bad news ladies, I trust you any day to fly me safely to anywhere in the world. I just won't trust you to park my car ;-)

  15. Women may be worse drivers than men because usually they have 2 or 3 kids in the back seat wanting her attention while she's driving to work trying to think of what to fix for supper in time to get jr. to his soccer game. Wondering if his uniform is clean, and hoping to get home in time so they can get a bath and she can help them with their homework in time to spend a few minutes with her husband who has come home from work to sit in front of the T.V. She's wondering if she's going to get her report in to the boss in time and if anyone will help her plan the bosses birthday party at work since she works mostley with men who don't want any part of that c**p. She listning to the strange sound under the hood and trying to plan time to take the car to the shop. Nuff said? Tongue in cheek

  16. The idea of ME driving is absolutely terrifying. I hold my hands up that I cannot drive. I can't turn right in a car so I wouldn't get far would I. No I will stick to taxi's and let my man drive me around.

  17. not married  are you.????        women are women I love em no matter how they drive.....  yes dear I'm coming...lol.....

  18. For ladies who insure their cars, Sheila's Wheels are superstars. Say no more.

  19. No, i don't think women in general will admit they are not better at driving.  That's just because some of them are better than some men, but on the same page, some men are better than some women.

While it is true that women cause more accidents per mile then men, men cause more DEADLY accidents then women.  So, while I'm getting in a little fender bender, you're killing some guy. (well, i doubt you've ever killed anyone in an accident, and i've never caused an accident period, this was just an example)

men are also more likely to receive a speeding ticket, if you want to include that data.  But this might be skewed because police are more likely to let a woman go with a warning.

So, I don't think we will ever be able to say which s*x is better at driving, because it really depends on how you weigh the statistics.

  20. i may not have a good sense of direction but the only accidents i have been in were caused by the men driving the other cars.  i can also say, that i picked up a friend of mine(male) one time many years ago on a moped.  he insisted on driving because he said, I quote"men drive better than women" he then proceded to drive on the sidewalk and we crashed in the street.  we barely missed getting hit by oncoming traffic.  i believe that men take too many chances to be better drivers than women

  21. I think women are rubbish at parking.

  22. My mom is a way better driver than my dad...

  23. I hate to agree, I feel I'm letting the side down...

but...  at work, more women ask me to reverse their cars out of spaces for them than men.  More women try to drive through my office window than men.  More women engage the incorrect gear to try to pull off than men...

However...  The only two people in four years to require insurance intervention after damaging cars in our yard were men.

I think, on the whole, men take more risks (which often pay off), and women play it on the safe side, which makes them look unskilled even when they're not.  There are several obvious exceptions though!

I'm a woman (well, I was last time I checked anyway!) and I consider myself a good, precise driver - but that's because I spend all day driving cars in and out of tight spaces and reversing off ramps and round corners.  I have good spatial awareness when I'm in the driving seat, I know how close to the wall I can drive and how much angle to put into parking.

Out of a car I'm so clumsy I could cry - I'm always covered in bruises.  In a car, well, let's just say you could trust me to reverse-park your Ferrari without dinging the back end or scraping the wheels ;-)

On the whole, I think the best person to ask this question to would be Sabine Schimtz - I'm sure she'd give you a valid point of view ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabine_Schm...

As to the original question - I'd never actually admit to being bad at anything, even if I was.  Show no weakness!!!!!

  24. nurse Susan gets her information from a different source to me!

if you follow the insurance industry and collate it with  other organisations such as RAC AA and police to get a true overall perspective you come up with something like this.

the men break down into tow main sections . section one=younger drivers up to ages approx 25 who have the most fatal and expensive crashes and subsequent injuries  so costs are highest of all.  after that it starts to get a bit better  men around age 50 ish are best overall drivers of all.

women have far far more minor accidents normally involving parking or kerbing etc and most of these are not recorded. they are statistically the most SAFEST drivers on the road overall!  mainly due to  natural tendency to be hesitant and careful although they suffer from distraction easily such as small children in  cars.

the point we seem to get mixed up in is the term 'better drivers'

for the average person this equates to driving on a normal road doing average mileage in an average car. women are =safest overall in all categories  for insurance purposes ( costs) NOT collisions ( actual damage or contact with other objects )

for  the other type of Best driver we get mixed up with = handling ,parking, mechanical sympathy, steering etc  men overall come out tops in almost every instance.

probably why we don't see many women rally drivers.

so... if better = better as for handling.parking etc then men are best BUT is we insert term safest ( instead of better) then women win all round. hopefuly this will put it to rest as this argument has been raging for years and its really about two different terms!

  25. Come man women drive as well as men, you just can't say that. Danica Patrick is a great race car driver can't say she's a bad driver.................... Oh wait maybe a pit crew member can say that, but you can't
