Question:

Will working out solely with jogging and doing pushups make me look skinny and rob me of my muscles?

I'm a 5'6" 17 year old ectomorphic male, and I've been doing some research online. I've worked out on and off during the last few years, and I've found I get my best results with strictly cardio. The problem is, I've read that, over time, doing nothing but running will make you look skinny as your body grows used to the workout, and you will not only stop gaining muscle, you'll actually lose the muscle you have. So, should I stick to my current workout, which is jogging 3 miles a day, plus 50 push ups, and 50 sit ups on each side of my abs, or should I take something else up like swimming?
