Will you be able to trade pokemon from d/p to the new pokemon platinum?

Question

I want to know, becasue Platinum looks good, but i think my dimond verction is better, so, Can you trade from d/p to platinum? PLEASE TELL ME! I WANT THE GIRATINA FORM, THE NEW 5 POKEMON FORMS, AND THE NEW SHAMIN FORM ALL ON MY Pokemon DIMOND!

Pokemon Platinum is compatible with it's previous predecessors, but trade technicalities will be present.  It's similar to the Deoxys concept in FRLG.  Deoxys would be in attack form in FR, but when traded to LG, it'd morph into defense form.  

In Platinum, Giratina will be in what seems to be coined as "Origin Form".  By trading it to D/P, Giratina will revert back to the form seen within that game.  Shaymin acts the same way except that an exclusive Platinum item will trigger the form change.

In a nutshell, D/P will not support the new features implemented in Platinum.  If you have a puissant desire retain your previous Pokemon, then I suggest you transfer the Pokemon you want from Diamond onto Platinum.  For more questions, check Serebii.net.
