Refuse to pay what or who. If you think this is exciting, you need help. Look at all the people driving import cars from other country, We may not have been in this, if every one only bought American. We have had three warning over the last 30 years that there was going to be a gas shortage, and each time the people complain, that something had to be done about it. And each time the gas prices settled down, people went back to there old ways. My wife help start the Beef boycott of the 70s, it did no good, People wanted there beef, no mater what it cost. Good idea, you need to run with it and work it.

Refuse to pay?  Wouldn't that be stealing?  And wouldn't that result in our complete loss of independence and freedom??  Like, jail???

What does 'high prices' have to do with our independence? Whether or not we are free has no effect on the economy's rise or fall.
