Why Can’t We Be Friends

I will agree that we disagree

That makes neither better than thee

For you to be you and me to be me

Is so clear yet we are too blind to see

I say yes and you say no

I go to and you go fro

You like rain and I like snow

You say how and I say so

When we both are laid to rest

Will you say that you were best

Or will I give in and acquiesce

Either way we failed the test

If I can't seem to make amend

And to me you must condemn

One last thought to you I send

We both now have lost a friend

  1. Afew things went through my mind

    on this poem

    first Will you be mine.

    I think of Valentine's Day

    Nextly  Another title

    Why can't we be friends

because this is a war of words

I like the first line I will agree we disagree

    this is being honest.

    However

When I say stop you go

can the other person says can't

I like the rain but you like the snow

This is also about different things

    like the rain or snow

    Judging by the last line

it talks about the end of a friendship.

  2. Sounds like this relationship - is based on competition - rather than being complementary. Neither person (evidently) was mature enough - to see the differences - as possibly being - beneficial to each other ♥

  3. IMPRESSIVE I might say loved the 3rd stanza "When we both are laid to rest    Will you say that you were best   Or will I give in and acquiesce   Either way we failed the test" THX for sharing a lovely thought provoking poem. :)

  4. Sometimes you just have to let go, especially when it seems you have done everything to make it work-If you put all the cards on the table and still cannot come to resolution it cannot be.

It will only lead to resentment and bring you both down

  5. So A friend you've lost,

    Is that so?

Why then did you not let me know?

I Your Friend would Like to be,

    If Dear Sir,you will agree.

Of course if you would rather not,

    Then with Grace and Charm

    You may call me Ma-am,

    I Bid thee Farewell,

    and Toodlepip,

No doubt We'll pass on many

    A Ship!

  6. Well penned, especially the last stanza.

  7. and about time, too.   But you tried!  you can't win over everyone.

  8. Trust is hard to retrieve, one has to prove it in action.

whatever the reason, you always manage to write impressive

    poems of feelings.
