On Saturday, March 29th, people around the world will be turning off their lights for one hour from 8pm to 9pm. Will you do your part for the environment and switch of you lights and appliances?

The future is what we all make it http://www.earthhour.org/

  1. It won't hurt so I'll give it a try. Don't use your diesel generators guys......

but since in my country it will happen at 8-9pm, I'll probably just turn off most of the appliances and leave just a cellphone, a light, and a landline phone on because you'll never know when an emergency might happen.

BTW, that will save a lot of energy. Let's try extending it by 20 more minutes because I'm pretty sure some people won't do this thing.

Don't know bout other contries but in my country we use more renewable sources of energy (water energy, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy) than oil or fossil fuels so it will really help (those won't crank out greenhouse gases even when they are on-line)

  2. Absolutely, I will definately turn on all of my lights, take a nice long hot shower and make a big batch of microwave popcorn before setting my heater at a comfortable temperature and watching a movie on my DVD player.

I urge everyone to do the same.

  3. no i am not taking part. I believe that human's effect on global warming is overrated.

  4. yes and hopefully it will be a nice night to star gaze

  5. I will still have my computer on. Does that matter?

  6. I will not be taking part, Earth Hour is is a gimmick.

I have friends who enthusiastically embraced the idea last year is Sydney but for every other  night of the year casually leave lights on in unused rooms.

To really make a difference issues have to be confronted every day, turning off lights is only a start, walking instead of driving, buying local not imported, recycling and reuse need to become party of everyday life, there are too many people who think they have done their bit in 1 hour instead of 365 days

Base load power stations will remain on line still pumping out greenhouse gasses while people delude themselves they have done something good

  7. Yes definitely!! And I am also encouraging my friends and family to do so! But I think this should also be an everyday thing, where everyone becomes conscious of their electricity consumption and general lifestyle also.

  8. I have no part in "Earth Hour".  How about I kill the lights from 2am to 7am the following Sunday morning?

  9. Yes, I'll do it, it seems like a cool idea I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to do it. I guess they're just poopy heads.

  10. Yup, signed up already, and have been gettin the word out as well, thanks for doin the same!

    Peace out.

  11. Yeah, I'll turn off my power and crank up my old diesel generator out back. Maybe burn some old engine oil for heat.
