Will you get a ticket for being only 1 month late on license plate registration?

My registration ended in July. I paid my registration over the internet during the last week of July and I'm now awaiting the new year sticker which I have not received. Do the police give you the benefit of the doubt for one month before they start citing you?

  1. I will say,"Sure you will get a ticket".

  2. well you shoul dhave printed the paper  out when you got done with it  so you woul dhave a copy of that you payed for it already and yes they can and will give you a ticket if they catch you driving... without is without either way you look at it... and no they dont give any slack if they see ya they ticket ya

  3. If you were going to wait that long, why didn't you pick it up at a local DMV office?  Just don't drive it or park it on the street.  In fact some people have gotten tickets for expired registration if the vehicle is publicly visible (in their own driveway).  You may be able to get out of that if or when you have proof that you renewed it, depending upon how strict they are in your (undisclosed) area.

  4. If you are spotted driving with an expired tag, it's up to the officer.  There's no grace period on an expired tag because they send out the notices a month in advance.  Since you renewed over the internet, print out the renewal confirmation and carry it with you until the sticker arrives.

    And...  renew sooner next year.

  5. The police Do Not give you the benifit of the dought. When you registeed your vehicle on the State web site & paid with a credit card, you would have been able to print a receipt to keep in your vehicle untill you received the one from the DMV. If you didn't prit the proof, you will have to take your bank statemet showing the payment to the DMV to any DMV office to get it taken care of. Untill then, if the registration does not show when an officer runs the plate number, your vehicle could be towed & you would be given a ticket. You can call or go to the DMV & give them the VIN & Plate number, they can tell you if the vehicle showes registered or not.

  6. It depends on the officer. Legally they can give you a ticket. However if you are polite and explain your situation he may not give you a ticket or he may give you one and tell you to bring the sticker to the court date and the ticket will be canceled. If you have any paperwork on the registration keep it in your car so that you have some form of proof of registration to show the officer.

  7. You can get a ticket if you get stopped.  You will be paying penalty fees when you do get it registered.

I would print the receipt off your computer & carry it with you until you get your tag.
