I got this stuff when I was in class, but I totally forgot. Can you explain to me how to write a number as a power of a given base?? Here is an example from my homework...

256; base 2

Here is one I did when I still remembered how

1,000,000; base of 10= 10 to the sixth

Thanks a bunch

  1. What the question is asking you is to find to waht power of x is 2 equal to 256.

    Now we can make an equation:

    2^x=256 (Notice that the 2 is the base and x is the exponent)

    Now all you have to do is solve for x:

    Taking the log of both sides:

    x log(2)=log(256)

    x=log(256)/log(2)

    x=8

    Answer 2^8

  2. Do you need Help?

    Help of what base?

    what is the base of your Brain?

    you have a bra out?

    he has a bra in!

  3. hey stupid buy a tutor

  4. To convert a number in binary, first try to find the largest power of 2 that's equal to or less than the number

    1 [base 2] = 2^0 = 1

    10 [base 2] = 2^1 = 2

    100 [base 2] = 2^2 = 4

    1000 [base 2] = 2^3 = 8

    ...

    1000 000 00 [base 2] = 2^8 =256

    In this case, 256 itself is a power of 2, so it's just a matter of finding what place the power is in.  The answer is "100000000"

  5. 256 = 2^x

    16 * 16 = 2^x

    2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 = 2^x

    2^8 = 2^x

    x = 8

    2^8 = 256

  6. 2 to the 8th power

  7. its 16.

    because 16 squared is 256

    i believe thats what youre trying to get at there.
