I am going on a mission trip to africa in November for two weeks my church is going and we have to come up with money individually to go I need $4000.00 if I could get 4000 people to donate a $1.00 I will have the money to go. This has been my dream for a year now. I plan to do fund raisers also to raise the money. I dont have the money at present but I am going to step out on faith and pay the $100.00 registration fee and get my passport . Will you help. I intend to meet my goal but if for any chance i don't make it the money you donate will go to help someone else go. If you want to be sure this is legit. i dont think you understand what the gospel is because your not following it right now. It is supposed to take your sacrifice and efforts to go. Not ours. sacrifice is part of the gospel. If you and your church don't want to pay for it then don't go.

I need $4000 to fix my kid's teeth and jaw, do you think you can help me because my state medical coupon and my disability income will not cover it?

I don't think God needs traveling salemen to go to Africa, I think he needs good Christians to be good Christians right where they are and the church will grow because they are good Christians and the word will spread that they are true to their faith and show it in their works.

How much food could you send to Africa or Haiti (where I read in the news they are literally eating dirt to survive) for the amount of money your church is asking you all to spend for two weeks in Africa on a mission?  What kind of mission for God only takes two weeks of your time, anyhow?  Sounds more like this serves you rather than the people you are going to visit.

Sorry to sound angry at your request, but it did make me angry that you would ask for help to travel across the globe when there are poor starving people that that money could be used to feed instead of buying you a plane ticket, lodging, and a vacation where you can pretend you are accomplishing some good in the world for God.  I really do believe that God wants you to help feed the starving and help provide medical care, not spend $4000 traveling to deliver the good news of how we didn't bring you any food, but here's a Bible you can read.  Throw in a few Bibles with the food you send them instead.  I myself have plenty of Bibles, a bunch of them around my house, but my food supply is low, and I still don't have money to go to Africa or fix my kid's teeth.  Can you help me with this?

Part of the mission experience is to humble yourself in raising your funds for the trip, not to try and find the easy way out and solicit money on the web.  If you truly believe you're suppose to go on this trip, then you need to make the effort, make the sacrifice to make it happen.

If it means taking on extra shifts at work, not going out with your friends on the weekend, offer to do odd jobs for your neighbors etc.  You have to earn the right to go serve in Africa, don't cheat because you're only cheating yourself out of the full benefit of serving on a mission team.

And, I'd love to hear all about your trip because I go to Africa every year to serve in the squatters too.
