reading problem? Latley, I have been having this reading problem where it seems like when I read, the words get mixed up. Like out of order. For example, if the sentence was, "The dog chased the cat." I might see it as, "The chased dog the cat." It started maybe the beginning of 10th grade, and I don't know what it is. I am not in special ed. I am in all regular academic classes(although I have trouble keeping up) Do you know of anything like this?

  1. sounds like dyslexia.

  2. I'm thinking Dislexia but I'm not sure

  3. Dyslexia would not change to order of the words, but the order of the letters within the words.

I'm not sure what's going on. My child is autistic, high functioning, but autistic nonetheless and I know what is said and what is comprehended isn't always the same thing.  I would talk to your parents and ask them to have to evaluated at the school you attend. If you're nervous about talking to Mom and Dad, ask your guidance counselor to help you. Tell someone you're having trouble. I'd hate to see you frustrated and dropping out of school, b/c you can't keep up and people aren't helping you. It could be something simple... there might be a technique for you use while reading. I would be conscience of how you perceive what you read. Take your time with it. Better to do well at one thing, than to fail at all things.

I'm no doctor, psychologist or counselor, I'm a parent and I've been down this road.

It's good that you're asking for help. This is half the battle, especially at your age. My child is much younger, 7 in fact, and I get help to my child, b/c of the age.

  4. You might have dyslexia u should get that checked out immediately. Don't worry yourself about alot of people have it doesn't mean your slow or anything

  5. I was thinking dyslexia too, but can't be sure. It definitely sounds as though you may have some type of learning disability, but only a specialist will know for sure. You might want to start by telling your folks about it or seeing if you can speak to a school counselor.

For the record, if you have developed a learning disability, it is under no circumstances a reflection of your intelligence.  Dyslexia, for example, is very common and some of the most gifted individuals have been known to suffer from it.

  6. Yes it's called dyslexia, talk with your school counselor, and they will be able to help you learn how to cope with this disorder.

Don't worry there are a lot of people just like you.

  7. im no expert but it could be dyslexia.. you should try puttin a piece of see through coloured paper or plastic over the writing because that puts it back in order apparently.
