After all the help the Bush Administration gave to residents 3 years ago during & after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, will you be one of the first to go down there and help rescue them from a storm that is sure to be a doozy?

  1. What Republicans will be in New Orleans?  The convention is in Minneapolis.

Maybe the people of New Orleans need to help themselves instead of waiting on another government handout.

  2. I only wish that you really were aware of what you were asking.

The problem started when the Democratic mayor refused to have everyone leave the city and then refused the buses that were in the city. The city's and other states that were hit by Katrina did very well because they listened to the warnings that were put out by the Feds.

Something that should have been done by the mayor and former governor of the state. Oh wait she was a Democrat too wasn't she!

  3. Now that we have a republican Governor they will actually do something about it and not wait for the federal government to come in a save the day.

  4. Our Gov. started sending buses down there today to evacuate NOLA (I like 45 mins away). And like someone else stated, our previous governor turned down help till it was too late to evacuate NOLA. I hope it doesn't hit here because the city is still recovering, there are so many homeless left over, the cost of living has rose tremendously in NOLA so people can not afford to come back. Some friends of ours, who both have good paying jobs, are just now getting back into their home because of the extensive damage and are having to leave again. They can not afford to rebuild if the lose again.

I feel for everyone because it is hard to leave your home and things knowing you may lose it all. And to relive it again....I hope everyone stays safe and has no major damage and that Gustav dies down in the Gulf although I know I will not be that lucky!

  5. I think there was plenty of blame to go around for the Katrina recovery disaster, but it's pretty obvious who the residents of Louisiana blamed.  They got rid of their governor (a Democrat, not that that's important) who at the time refused assistance from federal authorities and wouldn't even take the President's phone calls.

That's not to say residents blame the Democratic party in general.  New Orleans residents have re-elected their Democratic mayor since Katrina.

Overall, I think it's pretty absurd for anyone to blame the Katrina recovery mess on a political party.  People from both sides of the aisle were involved.

By the way, you can see the projected path of Gustav, and find links to local TV and newspaper coverage, plus find links to the National Hurricane Center coverage of the storm on http://www.USAMediaGuide.com

  6. They now have a republican gov who will be able to oversee the aid [money-all the feds do, they don't sand bag or evacuate peeps ] and bypass the typical corrupt Orleans democrats who stuffed the money in their freezers and doled out aid[money ] to their crony's

Ever wonder why the ppl in the midwest , devastated by tornados and floods recovered with less fed aid.

It's because they got off their kesters and just did it
