They love Harry Potter so much, that they want to name their unborn son Harry? Knowing that their last name is Pitts, any advice?

  1. I think that it is their choice and I'm a big fan of Harry Potter too, but that combo of names doesn't work. Ask them to choose another name from the book series. Tell them how you feel about the name and why. Maybe they just haven't really thought it though.

Tell them to check out this site "Harry Potter Name Generator" where you type your name in, and the spells will change it to a magical name! (linked) It's fun!!

  2. This is a joke, right?

but either way, naming your son after Harry Potter and ultimately being named Harry Pitts is pretty funny. However, the kid will definately be made fun of.

  3. Please think of your child what is the mothers maiden name use it if Harry is a must or try Harrison but I pray for a girl!

  4. I guess you don't have any choice in the matter unless you are really close to them & can get them to change their minds.  There's always Prince Harry, he seems t bear up pretty well with the name. But with Pitts as a last name, I don't know, sit them down & say it over & over again to them. HARRY PITTS, HARRY PITTS, HAIRY (OOPS) PITTS.

  5. Yes, stop fooling around here and go out and learn something.  This one is as old as the hills, dear.  Harry Pitts, Harry Butts, Harry Balls, Harry B. Hind.  They've all been around forever!

  6. First of all, do the parents see his future name as a pun, or are they just obsessive "Harry Potter" fans?  If they view the combination of these names as just a really funny pun, ask them if "Harry Pitts" passes the middle-school test:  What would a 12- or 13-year-old feel like if he was constantly teased about his name?

Finally, remember to tell young Harry to count his blessings because his name could have been worse.  During the 19th century, Texas Governor James Hogg named his daughter Ima.

  7. It is none of your business.  It is not your place, my place, or anyone else's who answered here to decide what they should or should not name their baby or why the pick the name they chose.  It is also not your or our place to try to change their mind.  Why can't you just be happy for them?  So my advice is to accept THEIR decision about THEIR baby and butt out.

  8. That's kind of unfortunate.  BUT...it's their choice.  I'm sure they've said it out loud to themselves so they know how it sounds.  You really can't stop them.  If you find any names that you think sound nice tell them!
