I am in Hong Kong. I attended a St.John's first-aid class today. The teacher is terrible. She always yells at students if the students practises CPR wrongly. When the students ask her what problem do they have while practising CPR. The teacher refuses to answer any questions and yells at us "You guys are all stupid .If you ask any questions, it means you challenge me .You are challening the authority of a first-aid teacher."

I used to study in Australia for 3 years. I used to attend another St.John first-aid course in Sydney. The teachers are all very nice. They welcome students to raise any questions regarding the course material.

We are all between 18 -30 years old. Some of my first-aid classmates

feel frustrated and lost interest in the course. Do you think they are normal ?

  1. Well,I can't say I relate to your personal problem, but since everybody is different, there really is NO normal unless you consider being mortified of going to a class on a subject YOU love studying because of a stupid teacher that gets on everyone`s hate mail list. The next time she screams at the lot of you, don`t yell back or slump in your seat. You just go up there and confront her.Or if you can't muster up enough courage to do that, just write her a strongly worded letter and sign it as Anonymous. Then when she's not looking, slip it onto her desk.So basically some of you might and some of you might not lose interest. It's just a basic fact of life.Everyone's different  and everyone's good at it.

  2. Report her and get her fired.

  3. Wow, what a *****.

  4. Hm, i think it's normal when you don't feel comfortable in class when your teacher always blame on you. As you said that your friends feel the same like you do, just discuss this matter with them... what would all of you do when your teacher do the same thing all the time?

so, if you really want to make the class situation better, i think you and your friends better to talk with her outside the classroom ( i mean, not when she is teaching you in front of the class). discuss with her about your objection with her attitude, and tell her what was your feeling when you'd be yelled about for something that you never know the reason why. ask her what's the exactly matters which she dislike in the class. tell her what you should do to make the class more comfortable, and make an agreement with her, when you do what she said, she won't yelled anymore in the class....

hope my suggestion will help you learn her class better. now, good luck to you! :)

  5. It is definitely harder to stay interested in a class when all that happens when you ask legitimate questions is you get yelled at.  It isn't a safe learning environment.  I would report this teacher as well.  They don't belong in a position of authority, they clearly have other issues in their life that they need to deal with.
