  1. Check out the ways to save on the website below.  Your local utility may have ideas too - but I have used many of these ideas to try to go green.

  2. Make sure to change your air filters every month. Turn off lights in rooms not being used. Close off vents in rooms not being used.

  3. i just read in Readers Digest: turning off your computer every night will save $70 a yr

  4. turn everythng off at the plug when not in use....have a shower instead of a bath....only boil enough water for the tea/coffee u are making and no more.....close your curtains at dusk as this keeps the heat in....thats all i can think of right now! hope this hepls x

  5. Apart from the other things a good thing to do is to use dimmer switches on your lights and try to use natural sunlight more.

  6. live in the dark.

  7. Turn your thermostat down 5 degrees. Let your dishes air dry in the dishwasher instead of using the heated dry cycle. Don't wash dishes or clothes until you have a full load.

  8. a favorite of mine, living in the Winter Zone (Vermont, USA)

is to not turn the heat up for at least an hour when i get home.  in comparison to the outside, it's warm inside when you first get there.  after about an hour i start to feel the chill and THEN turn it up.

when you figure that my heat doesn't run now 30 hours a month more like it used to, it makes a huge difference in the fuel & electricity bill.
