    To ensure the liberty of American citizens.

    2. What is the Bill of Rights?

    First 10 Amendments guaranteeing certain individual freedoms.

    3. What rights are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights?

    Freedom of speech, religion, assembly, petition, the right to keep and bear arms, ensures due process, no double jeopardy, cruel and unusual punishment, or search and seizure without cause. Protection from quartering troops and the right to a speedy trial by a jury.  

    4. What is an amendment?

    A ratification of the Constitution.

    5. If you could add a new amendment to the American Constitution, what would it say?

    Freedom of thought.

    6. What is your level of education?

    Two college degrees.

  2. 1.  According to the preamble the purpose is:

    -to form a more perfect union

    -to establish justice

    -to ensure domestic tranquility

    -to provide for the common defense

    -to promote the general welfare

    -to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity

    2. The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments to the constitution

    3. -The right to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion

    -The right to bear arms

    -The right not to have soldiers stationed in your house

    -The right to a fair trial

    -The right not to have to incriminate yourself

    -Protection against cruel and unusual punishment

    -Some other stuff that I am probably forgetting

    4. An amendment is a clause that was added after the original constitution was written.  The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments and there are a total of 27 amendments.

    5.  I might add one guaranteeing the right to affordable health care, but I'm not sure that a Constitutional amendment is the right legal avenue for that sort of legislation.

    6.  I have a master's degree and I'm halfway finished with a Ph.D. (in astrophysics)
