In one newspaper it says we will be subjected to 'I'm on the plane' instead of 'I'm on the train'.

One wag has written a message from the pilot -

"this is yr pilt txting ..." ..."ava gd flt"Express newspaper I think.

It could drive one to air rage!!!

  1. It'll just make things easier for terrorists.

  2. No! i think this will be terrible, planes are already noisy enough journies as it is without some fat sweaty business man shouting down a phone trying to let everyone know how important he is or some chav yelling the details of his holiday out so everyone knows what a great time the d*ck had. Texting but no phoning maybe that would be better.

  3. no, i will hate it, the noise of the phone ringing when you are train to sleep and people talking should be so uncomfortable

  4. I think this is one of the worst ideas ever. That was one of the great things about flying - it was a no-mobile zone and it was heaven. No putting up with other people's calls, no annoying ringtones. Now, they want to do away with that.

I hope they think again. Never mind the passenger comfort thing, I am not that sure it would be safe. they say phones will not interfere with the planes controls, but I would err on the side of caution with this one.

  5. it aitn a good Idea phones to be encouraged in planes due to possible radar interruptions

or would you like to be told that you are crashing due to poor communication with ground personnel when landing?

    good day

  6. Glad it's still illegal in the States.

  7. Cell phones don't interfere with anything. If a cell phone doesn't disrupt your TV or WiFi connection, how is it going to interfere with aircraft instruments and radar? Aircraft controls are completely independent and can't be interfered with. Here's the only way it'll work.To get a guaranteed signal in flight, an airline will likely have to install equipment to handle the traffic. Essentially the aircraft becomes a cell tower. This sounds big, but is easy to implement, as a lot of aircraft already have internet in business and first class. There isn't too much to worry about for most passengers, because this is unlikely to be implemented in every plane. The only problem, either way is with noisy people chatting away. The solution to this is also running everybody's signal through a central hub, set up with service providers and the airline to get a big fee. This makes it too expensive to use for more than a short conversation. This is the only way to limit uncontrolled blabbering, and the only way I'd support the idea.

If you want to disturbmy flight with compulsory distribution of personal BS, you're going to pay a lot for it.

  8. You can turn it on if you want, but it won't work.

You simply will not get a signal at 35,000 feet.

  9. Not a good idea to use mobile on planes

  10. No, the bloody things are an absolute nuisance on buses, trains or wherever thoughtless morons decide to use them. At least, let us have some peace while flying !

  11. Funny, most folks think it interferes with electronics on the plane.  NOT!  They don't transmit enough power.  The problem you run into is they can't figure out what tower to hook into, since they are line of sight - and at altitude, you could see lots of towers.

From my experience, I've never had any problem with one being used on one of my flights.  Course, I don't fly for the airline.

  12. Most of the time you can't choose where you sit on a plane so this could be a nightmare. It is bad enougth having to sit next to a bunch of loud drunks or a screaming child. Now we got to sit next to annoying businessmen who are screaming down their phones so everyone can hear how important they think they are.

    Rant over.

  13. Absolutely no for all the reasons given above and also didn't they forever go on about how the signal could affect the flight controls???  I'm sure that there was an aircrash investigation episode which had theorists claiming the phone done it so i'm convinced its a bad idea.

  14. After years of flying this year I decide I'd had enough of aeroplanes and airports, now the thought of aeroplanes and mobile phones. No, No, No that's to much I'm staying on the ground from now on.

  15. Emirates Airlines announced last week that it was allowing cell phones to be used in flight. The first airline to allow it. They are are First Class Airline, with that said I think they made a HUGE mistake. You hit the nail on the head, Air Rage!!! No it should not be allowed. I wish restaurants had areas divided as cell phone, no cell phone. If people would be considerate it would not be that big of a deal but we know that isn't going to happen.
