The Dutch legend insists that the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss should not be dismissed as the Oranje head coach in the wake of their disappointing Euro 2012 campaign.
Willem van Hanegem has backed Netherlands head coach, Bert van Marwijk, despite many calling for his scalp, following the Oranje’s elimination from the group stages at Euro 2012.
The former Feyenoord Rotterdam legend insisted that the 60-year-old tactician should remain the Oranje boss, and has urged the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar player to shuffle his squad.
Van Marwijk, who took over the Flying Dutchmen’s head coach position from Marco van Basten in 2008, was leading his side to tremendous results before facing a disastrous European Championship campaign in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
Although, the Dutch trainer has an ongoing contract until 2016, his future is looking uncertain following the Oranje’s elimination in the group stages.
Nonetheless, Van Hanegem has insisted that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Dutch Football Association (KNVB) should not dismiss Van Marwijk.
“Bert should continue. It would help f*** all if Van Marwijk quit as national team coach. He should say farewell to a few of the players [rather than go himself]”, the former Dutch international was quoted as saying to Voetbal
