William Buick hoping to guide The Fugue to victory in the Grade 1 Investec Oaks
Jockey William Buick is counting on, The Fugue, to land him a glorious victory in the Grade 1 Investec Oaks, which is scheduled to take place on 1st June, 2012, at Epsom.
The talented rider, who has guided many runners to victory, is excited to ride the daughter of Dansili, out of mare Twyla Tharp, as her prospects of winning look good in the upcoming event.
Buick understands the temperament of the runner as he had the privilege of mounting her in the last two races.
On 6th May, 2012, the John Gosden trained filly finished fourth in the Group 1 Qipco 1,000 Guineas Stakes at Newmarket, a commendable performance which the rider was pleased with.
Buick worked his magic on the Lord Lloyd-Webber owned filly in the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York on 16th May, 2012, where he crushed the competition, and notched a massive victory over the A.P. O'Brien trained,
Twirl, by 4 ½ lengths.
About her temperament and her ability, the jockey said:
"She has a realistic chance of winning the Oaks which is very exciting. That is the good thing about her - she has a great temperament. She was great before the race at York and travelled beautifully in it. She has done everything right and she strikes
me as a filly who will go round Epsom, though you never really know until the day. I feel she has all the right attributes."
Buick rode the John Gosden trained, Thought Worthy, to victory in the Poptelecom.co.uk Fairway Stakes at Newmarket on 19th May, 2012, where the three-year-old colt ran as a joint favourite with odds of 15-8 with Noble Mission.
The duo worked well together and successfully broke through the wire first, a narrow neck before the Sir Henry Cecil trained Noble Mission, who comes from the same pedigree as Frankel.
William Buick has quiet an impressive record of his own as he has collected victories on different runners on multiple occasions.
Buick has won St. Legers twice and will be riding Thought Worthy in the Investec Derby, which is due to take place at Epsom on 2nd June, 2012.
