Ireland skipper William Porterfield rued rain intervention in their do-or-die Group B fixture against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Monday, saying his side lost the momentum after the play resumed following a rain delay in their innings.
"We lost the momentum after the drizzle. It's disappointing, we have to go back home. It would have been nice to see yourself in the Super Eights," said the Irish skipper after the washed out game against West Indies.
"The build-up before the tournament was good, we had enough match practice. It was all positive. The loss against Australia in the first game was disappointing," added the left-handed opener, who was again dismissed for a first-ball duck on Monday.
Inclement weather in Colombo on Monday night saw the final Group B fixture between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 and West Indies reduced to 19 overs per side. The Irish side scored 129 for six in their stipulated 19 overs before downpour returned to prevent the second innings
from getting underway. The Caribbean side advanced to the Super Eight stage by virtue of their superior net run-rate, while the associate side was handed an early tournament exit.

“We are very happy to go through the next round. Hopefully, we can do better in the Super Eights and reach the semi-finals," he added further.
