Swansea City defender, Ashley Williams, has signed a new long-term deal with the Welsh club, offering his services till the summer of 2015.
The veteran Swans defender, who arrived at the Liberty Stadium in March 2008, is also the skipper of the team.
The 28-year old has enjoyed a successful start to the ongoing season.  So far, he has represented the Swans in all of their eight league matches.
Earlier this month, he was also handed over the captain’s armband by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Coleman in view of his inspirational presence in the squad.
Williams has remained a mainstay of the Swans defence over the last couple of years. He played an important role in helping the club climb to the top division of English football, having represented them at the League One and Championship levels.
The defender let out his delight upon striking the new deal with Swansea.
He said that he spent the best time of his career at the Liberty Stadium and was looking forward to representing the club for many more years to come.
“I'm delighted to get it signed. It's dragged on a bit but I'm happy to finally sign and be part of this team. I'm enjoying it here; it's a great place to be at the moment,” he told the club’s official website.
The South Wales outfit enjoyed stupendous success during their debut EPL campaign last term. They finished the table in the eleventh place, beating some of the top-flight teams on their way.
However, after kick starting the 2012/13 season on a sublime note, their performance has dipped considerably over the last two months, posing question over the team’s ability to survive in the top division.
Williams, nonetheless, was confident that the Swans will soon restore the winning ways.
He pointed out that his side have shown marked improvement since gaining entry in the Premier League and they were in the competition to stay.
“If we continue to work as hard as we have been, we will continue to go forward as a team and a club,” he added.
Swansea will square off against league champions, Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
