Williams CEO Adam Parr upbeat about a fight back in the 2011 Formula 1 season
The CEO of Williams Cosworth, Adam Parr, was confident that his team will bounce back in the upcoming races, despite their poor start to the 2011 Formula 1 season. The team have been unable to score a single point in the opening three races of the Championship,
which is their worst start in the entire career.
Commenting on the expectations from the team, Parr stated, “We come here to win, everyone does, but we've finished eighth, seventh and sixth in the last three years and I wanted to take another step. So fifth, minimum would be good. We are only three races
in, this is a long season and it's not game over yet.”
Parr expected improvement prior to the next race in Turkey, which takes place on Sunday, May 8th, 2011. He said, “I would love to see more progress. The things that we are bringing are not developing so much. The morale in the team is not as high
as it should be because we were expecting greater things and it's the same for me.”
There were rumours about Williams struggling due to shortage of finances, but Parr denied that. He claimed that the team has no weaknesses and can do well in the remaining season.
However, Parr admitted to be disappointed with the lacklustre performance of Williams until now. The team showed a lot of promise during the pre-season testing, but failed to deliver when the season officially kicked off.
Williams had a decent season in 2010, as the team finished sixth overall in the Constructor’s Championship. The team didn’t get off to a good start in the previous season as well, but managed to catch up with teams like Renault and Mercedes until the end.
Things are entirely different for the Grove-based outfit though, as they are not even able to match the smaller teams like Force India and Toro Rosso this year. Williams will be bringing some upgrades for the upcoming race and expect to score its maiden
points of 2011 in Turkey. The team didn’t get much time to improve in the opening three races, as there wasn’t much gap in between them.
