Williams Cosworth’s CEO Adam Parr offered resignation: Formula One news
Williams Cosworth’s CEO, Adam Parr, was disappointed about the team’s start in the 2011 season and offered his resignation to team boss, Frank Williams. However, his resignation was refused and Parr will continue to work with the Grove-based outfit in the
future.
According to Parr, “I tendered my resignation to Frank [Williams], Patrick [Head] and Toto [Wolff, shareholder]. I am responsible and I took the responsibility to do whatever they wanted to do.”
Admitting that his resignation was refused, Parr stated, “They did (refuse), yes. But that doesn't mean I don't feel responsible for what happened. I've addressed the whole factory and explained that I am responsible and have apologised for my part in this
failure.”
The team’s technical director, Sam Michaels, and aerodynamic chief, Jon Tomlinson, resigned from their duties earlier today, but will continue their work with the team until the end of the 2011 season.
Frank Williams appreciated the efforts of both men, saying they had worked hard with the team for years. However, they were not satisfied with the overall results of the team and decided to quit their job.
Former McLaren’s technical chief, Mike Coughlan, will be joining the team as a chief engineer. Williams was pleased with his inclusion in the team and stated that the entire team was looking forward to work with the Brit, who was rated as one of the most
talented engineers in the sport.
Coughlan was also delighted to join Williams and was looking forward to putting the team right on the top of the grid. He was thankful to the team for providing him an opportunity to showcase his talent at the highest level. He was suspended by McLaren in
2007, following allegations of information theft from Ferrari’s factory at Maranello.
The British race car designer was banned from Formula One for two years once the allegations were proven against him, but was unable to capture the attention of any team after serving his ban. He admitted to the charges, but claimed to be a changed person
after the incident.
Williams has been unable to score a single point in the 2011 Formula One season until now and the team will be looking to turn things around in the upcoming races.
