Williams F1 to test their balance solution – Formula 1 news
Williams F1 claim to have found a solution for the balance problems that had troubled its drivers in the Korean Grand Prix.
The team had a good start to the current season but has been gradually suffering. Their recent performance in the Korean Grand Prix was the most miserable so far. The drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna, failed to gain pace and score any points.
Williams F1 had been looking forward to the Korean GP with high hopes but after the race Mark Gillan, the chief operations engineer for the team, said that the race turned out to be a huge disappointment. He admitted that they lacked good pace and along
with the common tyre wear troubling drivers that weekend, they had to deal with some inconsistency in car balance.
Since the Indian Grand Prix is approaching fast this weekend, the team is hopeful about the solution they have worked out regarding the balance problem. He also admitted about testing the car upgrades they have made recently.
“On the back of a disappointing result in Korea the team have worked extremely hard to address the balance inconsistencies that affected both cars,” Gillan said. “We believe that we have found a solution and look forward to testing and optimising around
the updated car. The weather forecast in Delhi is good with predicted dry running throughout the weekend in reasonably high track temperatures and, as ever, the aim is to keep both the Pirelli hard and soft tyres within their optimal working window throughout
the weekend,” Gillan said.
Talking about the Indian Grand Prix, he admitted that the track is going to be difficult. He explained that the equipment has been transferred directly from Korea to Delhi and so getting new parts on the track will cause problems.
Even though Williams F1has been looking at options for new driver line up as the current drivers have no deal for next year, both drivers are hopeful to keep their positions. The team has previously said that the announcement is to be expected soon but right
now they are focusing on their current drivers as there are still four more races to go.
