Williams chairman Adam Parr quiet over 2012 drivers’ line-up – Formula 1 news
Williams chairman Adam Parr has held back any comments on the drivers’ line-up for the next 2012 season of Formula 1.
Despite openly applauding Kimi Raikkonen’s great talent, he has asserted that no concrete decision has been made by the team with regards to its 2012 drivers’ line-up as of now.
Speculations have been mounting of late suggesting the return of Kimi Raikkonen to Williams next season in place of Rubens Barrichello.
When asked to comment on the validity of this news, Parr said, “No decisions have been made, and I am really sorry but I can’t say more than that right now.”
Parr clearly admitted that Raikkonen’s addition to the team would be a great advantage, and that it would definitely improve the team’s overall performance in the next season. However, no mention of his contract with the team has been made yet. When inquired
by BBC whether Raikkonen or Adrian Sutil would be more suitable or useful for the team in the next season, Parr did not comment anything.
Parr said, “I think everybody knows that Kimi is one of the most talented drivers who have been in Formula One in recent years. From what we can all see he’s very hungry to come back in, and I think having a world champion in your midst of course energizes
people.”
Barrichello on the other hand is calm and composed amid such rumours and is confident that his seat is secure for 2012.
The Williams squad has just five points in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far. At the recently held inaugural 2011 Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit, the Grove-based outfit failed to perform as expected as both the team drivers, Pastor Maldonado
and Rubens Barrichello, were unable to impress the fans.
Maldonado retired early during race in lap 13 and Barrichello was only able to fetch a 15th place for himself.
Whatever gets decided by Williams in future with regards to their drivers’ line-up, let’s hope it fares well for the team in the next season.
