Williams chairman Adam Parr speculates better 2012 season for the team – Formula 1 news
Williams chairman Adam Parr says that his team has learned tough lessons during the torrid 2011 season.
He admitted that it was one of the worst seasons in the history of the team’s existence in the sport but conceded that it has helped the team to understand fully what changes are required of the team to make it a stronger force on the grid.
Parr reiterated that although the season was very hard to deal with as with every race they faced the ignominy of failing to fulfil the potential expected of the team. The tough lessons learnt will be utilised fully to prepare for the upcoming 2012 season.
The team has been very busy developing the new edition of their car and are going to be testing it out in first pre-season testing in February.
“The good news is that sometimes in life you're not performing, but you don't know why,” he said. “We understand precisely where we're weak, where the opportunities are, and what we have to do to get there.”
Williams was only able to secure 5 points in the season and was placed 9th in the constructors’ championship standings. Having the most experienced driver in the history of the sport in the shape of Rubens Barrichello, their performance was very dismal.
Although all the blame cannot be put on the drivers as they require a competitive enough car to deliver on the grid. Williams did not have the car that could win races which was evident throughout the season.
As Williams work towards making up for their mistakes and developing the new edition of their car they are also speculated to be in talks with Barrichello and fellow countryman Bruno Senna for a race seat. Barrichello contract ended with Williams at the
end of 2011 and since the Brazilian has been desperate to find a race seat.
He was recently quoted on the social website Twitter to have said, “Waiting for good news from Williams,” which indicates that they are in talks again. While Senna has also been involved in talks with the team though nothing has been confirmed by Williams
yet.
