Williams’ chief operations engineer Mark Gillan admires Bruno Senna – Formula 1 news
Williams’ chief operations engineer, Mark Gillan has admired the performance of Bruno Senna in the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix which was held at Hungaroring in Budapest.
Senna secured 7th place finish after taking a start from 9th grid position. Moreover, it was one of his best performances for his team in the season so far.
Gillan praised the performance of the Brazilian driver and expressed that he is extremely pleased with his progress in the season until now. Furthermore, he said that they are expecting Senna to keep on making the essential improvements in his pace and to
continue learning so as to develop as a competent driver in the future.
“Bruno did an excellent job this weekend and this was the strongest that he has been for Williams. He was clearly happy and confident within car and we look forward to seeing Bruno build on this performance going forward into latter half of season,” said
Gillan.
On the other hand, Senna’s teammate, Pastor Maldonado struggled during the preceding race and could not score even a single point. Nonetheless, the Briton said that they have firm faith in the capabilities of Maldonado who is pushing hard to get back in
form in the season ahead.
“As usual Pastor was strong in qualifying and despite a poor race start, which was due to excessive wheel spin, he pushed hard throughout race, ultimately finishing out of points in P13 following his drive-through penalty. One of Pastor's key strengths is
his mental toughness and already 'moved-on' and is preparing diligently for remaining races,” he said.
It will be important to mention that the Venezuelan driver took his maiden victory in the Spanish GP and bring his team their first win after 2004. Even though, he has been facing issues with his pace, nevertheless, he is positively looking forward to come
up stronger in the upcoming races.
At present, the Grove based team is at seventh place in the constructors’ championship. Additionally, they are ahead of Force India and are behind Sauber.
