Williams confirm Pastor Maldonado will take part in 2012 season – Formula 1 news
The team Williams have recently confirmed their driver Pastor Maldonado for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Maldonado will put his step towards his second season in the sport for the team next year.
The team driver talked to the media and said that he is delighted to be able to continue racing with Williams into his second F1 season.
He added that he will give his very best to put the team on a positive note next year, as they pushed to return to the front of the grid in the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Venezuelan discussed his 2011 championship and mentioned that 2011 season has been a tough for the whole team, but it has given him personally the opportunity to learn and develop about the car as well as sport.
Talking to reporters, Maldonado commented, “I am convinced that the steps we have taken to improve our competitiveness will bear fruit in 2012 and beyond. I am thrilled to be part of that and also to represent the people of Venezuela in Formula 1.”
The 26-year-old driver has been unable to perform well on the grid for the team throughout the season.
He scored only single point all the season. In recently held Brazilian Grand Prix, he started the race from the 18th position and after completing 26 laps he retired from the race.
He ended the 2011 F1 season at the 19th position with 1 point in the drivers’ standings.
On the other hand, Williams boss Frank Williams stated that Maldonado has proven throughout the championship that he is not only quick driver, but also that he is a driver, who can retain a constant and strong race pace during the races.
He went on to mention, “Pastor has also settled into the team at Williams very well, contributing strongly in the factory and with our partners. He will play a critical role in 2012 as we rebuild the team and move forward.”
Apart from that, the team Williams confirmed Valtteri Bottas as a test driver of the team for the next season’s practice sessions.
Let’s see whether Williams driver Maldonado performs better for Williams next year or not.
