Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado confident for British GP after good qualifying round – Formula 1
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that he is confident for the British Grand Prix after a positive qualifying round on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Silverstone racetrack.
Maldonado will start his British Grand Prix from the seventh place on the starting grid on Sunday, July 10, 2011 in Silverstone. The Venezuelan is confident for Sunday’s race after his impressive progress in the qualifying round. He said that he is looking
forward to a successful raceday on Sunday following his top ten qualifying position.
The 26-year-old driver mentioned, “Our car is working well and we gave a good performance today. It is Williams' home race so I'm happy for the team. I'm quite confident and really looking forward to tomorrow as I always enjoy racing at Silverstone. The
circuit with its quick corners suits our car so let's see what happens.”
The team driver admitted that his car’s pace was good during the Qualifiers and it was supportive for him during the session. In addition, he said that he is hopeful the car will be competitive for Sunday’s race at the Silverstone race circuit.
The British team driver Rubens Barrichello was quite slow behind his teammate Maldonado. He finished his qualifying run in the 15th place ahead of Renault’s Nick Heidfeld, who completed his qualifying session in the 16th place.
After the qualifying round, the Brazilian mentioned that he was unhappy with his Qualifiers results, as he was expecting a position in the top ten.
The 39-year-old driver discussed the qualifying session of the British Grand Prix and said, “I had traffic at the end of my first timed lap in Q2 which damaged my second timed lap as well. When a track like this is drying out you can lose everything so it's
very unfortunate that happened.”
The Williams-Cosworth team was pleased with Maldonado’s progress in the qualifying round at the Silverstone circuit. They are expecting a very decent performance from him during Sunday’s race. Let’s see how Maldonado manages his race at the Silverstone race
track following his strong qualifying session.
