Williams driver Pastor Maldonado hoping for points in Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Pastor Maldonado has said that he is confident of scoring some points at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Maldonado said that he was confident of a good run in Monte Carlo with the new upgrades applied to his car.
Williams’ drivers are aiming to do their best on the street circuit of the Monaco Grand Prix. They are confident that after a poor start to the season, they will give a new life to the team by scoring good points.
The Venezuelan driver thought that bad luck in the start hampered his progress in the season. In the recently held Spanish Grand Prix, he reached qualifying round 3, but could not gain good points for the team.
The team’s technical director, Sam Michael said that the main thing for them is to carefully focus on the upgrades that they bring to the car.
The Williams drivers are spirited enough after a poor run in Turkey and Spain. The team believes that they are still in a good position to score decent points in the upcoming races of ongoing season.
He said, “But now I am quite confident as I know the track very well. I think it is a very great opportunity for the team to score some points - and we need it. So I will do my best to achieve a very good position.”
Maldonado is sure that Monaco is a good opportunity for the team to make a productive run. In addition, he thinks that there are many races left in the season, so there are many chances to get first points.
Monaco’s street circuit is going to be helpful for the Williams’ team, as the drivers are much familiar with the track and are experienced as well.
Maldonado added, “Here, it is very difficult to predict. But, the car could be good. The need for aero efficiency is not as high as it is at other tracks, so the difference can be smaller here.”
The Monaco Grand Prix seems the most challenging one of the season so far as all teams are ready to deliver in Monte Carlo. Let’s see how it transpires this weekend.
