Williams driver Pastor Maldonado’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far
Pastor Maldonado, who was the 2010 GP2 Series champion, is currently driving for Formula 1 Williams team.
Maldonado is still unable to score a single point in the 2011 Formula 1 season following his disappointing start in his debut Formula 1 season.
Williams confirmed him with teammate Rubens Barrichello for the ongoing season’s races at the start of the 2011 year.
The Venezuelan driver experienced an F1 car for the first time in the 2011 winter test sessions. He learnt all the different aspects of the sport and features of FW33 car during the pre-season test sessions.
After finishing testing sessions on the grid in a decent manner, Maldonado took part in the season with hopes of giving positive results to his team from the initial stages.
The team driver did not have good start in the ongoing season, as he could not finish the first race of his Formula 1 career in Australia.
The Grove-based outfit driver had some transmission issues during the race and due to that he had to retire from the Australian Grand Prix. The race results were quite disappointing for him, as he could not complete his first race in Formula 1 racing.
After the Albert Part race weekend, Maldonado again retired from the race in the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix due to having an engine issue.
He made some improvements in terms of performance in the next Chinese Grand Prix, where he started his race from the 17th place on the grid and after struggling on the sets of new Pirelli tyres, he ended up in the 18th spot.
The third round’s results of the 2011 F1 season have encouraged him for the next race weekends.
He improved by one position in the Turkish Grand Prix, after struggling with his car. Maldonado came at the 17th position in the final race classifications.
The Williams’ driver had a positive start to the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix, as he secured a ninth place for the raceday in the qualifying round. After struggling a lot he came at the 15th place in the final race classifications.
The team driver was again positive in the qualifying round at the Monaco Grand Prix after the Spanish race weekend. He successfully secured his eighth position for Sunday’s race. Maldonado took part in the Monte Carlo race with hopes of giving good results
to his team, but he could not do that, as he had an accident during the race.
He retired from the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix, as his car spun off the racetrack in wet conditions after the break due to heavy rain.
Maldonado did not have a good race weekend in Europe. He started his race from the 15th place on the Valencia street track and after putting all of his efforts he came at the 18th place
in the final race classifications.
The Venezuelan made some improvement in terms of performance in the next British Grand Prix. After starting from the seventh place on the opening grid, he finished his Silverstone race in the 14th spot for the team.
He was again at the 14th place in the 2011 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring circuit.
The following Grand Prix was not so good for him, as he managed his 16th place in the Hungarian Grand Prix after starting from the 17th place on the Hungaroring racetrack.
