Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello: Suzuka is a real drivers’ circuit – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello has said that Suzuka is a real drivers’ circuit in Formula 1 sport.
He talked to the media and added that he always loves to race in Japan and that the curves behind the pit area are one of his favourite parts of Suzuka circuit.
The Brazilian driver also mentioned that he is confident of scoring some points for Williams in the upcoming Japanese race weekend taking place on October 9, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
Talking to the reporters, Barrichello commented, “I love Japan and think the Suzuka Circuit is a real drivers' circuit. The esses, behind the pit area, are my favourite part of the circuit. There is always a good buzz for us there and this year it won't
be any different with the championship set to be decided in Suzuka once again. I can only hope for points from this weekend.”
He went on to mention, “It means a lot to be racing on the same track that Ayrton and all those guys raced on. I think all of the drivers would agree with me on that.”
With regards to Barrichello’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far, he is still not able to finish a single race on the podium since the start of the championship fight.
The Grove-based outfit driver had a good race weekend in Monaco and Canada, where he took ninth position for Williams in both of the Grands Prix and scored points for them as well.
Barrichello has failed to produce points for his team since the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. In the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix, the 39-year-old driver came at the 13th position in the final race classifications after starting the race
from the 12th place on the opening grid.
After completing 14th race of the ongoing season held at the Marina Bay street circuit, the Williams driver Barrichello is placed at the 17th position with 4 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
Team Williams are sitting at the ninth position ahead of Team Lotus with 5 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how Barrichello manages the 15th round of the 2011 season at the Suzuka circuit this weekend.
